West Bank at Luxor

We visited several sites on the west bank at Luxor, beginning with the Valley of the Kings, where many tombs have been uncovered. The most famous is the tomb of the boy king Tutankhamun. We toured several of the tombs (no photos allowed) and were amazed by the construction and the vivid color still preserved in the decorations. Except for Tut's, most tombs were robbed in antiquity, and the artifacts that have been found are housed in museums rather than the original tombs. After the Valley of the Kings, we drove into the Valley of the Queens, and stopped at the temple of Hatshepsup. We also visited an alabaster shop and saw a demo of making the statuary.
